The Sustainable Enterprise Academy in association with the
Sustainability Reporting Program (SRP) presented a one-day summit on May 18, 2001, designed to improve the reporting process and maximize the value of environmental and sustainability reporting for Canadian Companies. The keynote presenter on the day was John Elkington of leading UK strategic think tank SustainAbility - John is generally credited with inventing the concept of the 'triple bottom line'. The Summit also featured briefings on the work of the NRTEE, GRI and Sustreport plus the latest research on reporting trends from Sustreport, the Schulich School of Business and others. Participantes at the summit came from many of Canada's leading reporters, including Alcan, BCHydro, Dofasco, DuPont, Nexfor, OPG, Shell and Suncor Energy.

The summit was interactive and future-focused; it was about adding value for the firm and its stakeholders; allowing participants to plan how to 'leap frog' to leading edge practice.
